We Bought a House!

We Bought a House!

You know you are adulting when you buy a house, am I right? And guess what…? We must be adulting hard because WE BOUGHT A FREAKIN’ HOUSE! Man it feels good to say that!

Our cute little family in front of our house

We had been looking at houses here and there over the past few years and in several different inner city neighborhoods, but never found anything worthwhile. Then in November we were out for a walk with Andee and our dog and saw an open house going on at a place we had seen online and liked. The open house was almost over, so we powerwalked home, dropped off our dog and quickly drove back to check it out. While that house wasn’t the one for us, we were blessed with meeting Alisha Whitehead  who we instantly connected with. She started showing us houses still in inner city neighborhoods, per our request, and she quickly began to know our style and what we were looking for. Let me just say now – she is a bomb ass realtor and I would recommend her time and time again. (Love story over, sorta – moving on to more house buying stuff.)

Then in January, by another random occurrence, we saw a cool house on Instagram in a neighborhood we hadn’t been considering. Seeing that house sparked our interest in looking at areas outside of the city center. This eventually led us to the purchase of our first home in a highly sought after, family friendly neighborhood in Calgary!

We are in a four level split with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. We have a huge backyard, a double car heated garage (can you say luxury?!?!) and an off leash dog park runs along the length of our street in the front of our house. There are some updates we are going to make in the years to come, but the house is still totally lovely as is. Keenan is going to work on installing new baseboards throughout the entire space this weekend. We have a painter coming in the following week and carpet and vinyl are being installed in the bottom two floors the week after that. We have to be out of our current place by March 1st, so it will be a somewhat quick turn around for us. But we are so eager to move into our new home that I think these next few weeks will fly by.

How lovely is our street?

I am so thankful for Keenan and his level head during this process. I would have bought five houses by now if I were looking by myself, and none of them would have measured up to the one we purchased. I guess Keenan really is my better half, right? I also cannot say enough positive things about Alisha. Lets just say we have plans to drink some beers in our backyard this summer – it was that good of an experience.

I’m so excited to start this next chapter of our lives with our sweet Andee girl. I’ll be sure to keep y’all updated on the moving situation and décor decisions we make along the way. Oh and house tour coming soon cause I know y’all gotta be interested! Happy (almost) weekend!
